Child Safety Policy

Epiphany has always been careful in who we allow to lead our children.  We have never had an incident or allegation.  However, in the last 5 years we have taken additional steps to make sure that all the children who worship, learn and serve at Epiphany are safe.  Isn't that what you expect from a church?

So how do we do this?

  1. Require volunteers who will be working with children to fill out a volunteer application including permission for us to do a background check
  2. Ask volunteers to join us in child safety training classes where we lay out out best practices, and tips for safety
  3. Follow standard safety practices like always having 2 adults present, requiring permission slips for any event off church property and placing glass windows in all of our classroom and office doors to name a few!
  4. Lasty, we are not afraid to talk about the issue of child safety!  We talk, we train, we make people aware of the potential risk when safety standards are not met.  This open communication coupled with our safety policy has helped us create an army of over 130 adults (and counting) trained in child safety and on the look out for anything unhealthy.

Below is a copy of our Child Safety Policy.  Check it out.
